Incidence of Intestinal Parasitic Nematoma with Fecal Examination


Abstract
Authors studies on the incidence of intestinal nematoda with fecal examination in 3,9558 persons out patients of Busan University Hospital, during the period from January to December 1971.
Intestinal parasitic nematoda were treated four kinds of Ascaris lubricoides,Trichocephalus trichiurus, Hook worm and Trichostrongylus orientalis.
The specimens were examined by direct fecal smear and brine flotation method. The results were summarized as follows;
1. The positive rate of intestinal nematoda of total was 77.6% among 3,958 persons. The infection rate of Ascaris lumbricoides was 31.1 %, Trichocephalus trichiurus 61. 1%, Hook worm 7.8¡Æo and Trichostrongylus orientalis 38.2%.
2., The sexual distribution of intestinal nematoda infections showed higher rate .in female with 79.3% than that of male with 76.6%.
3. The age group of 50-59 years showed the highest infection rate with 88.3% and the age group of 1-9 years showed the lowest infection rate with 1.9%.
4. The states of intestinal nematoda infection were 37.6% with 1,490 persons for single infections, 25.8% with 1,023 persons for double infections, 12.2% with 481 persons for triple infections and 2.0% with 79 persons for Quadruple infection. Of all single infections by intestinal nematoda, Trichocephalus trichiurus had the highest incidence with 22.5%.
5. Of all double infections by intestinal nematoda, Trichocephalus trichiurus and Trichostrongylus crientaris had the highest incidence with 13%, and Ascaris lumbricoides and Hook worm showed the lowest incidence with 0.3%.
